About GAP Ltd

Godsell Arnold Partnership was established in 1985 as R J Godsell Associates, becoming Godsell Arnold Partnership in 1996 following the merger with C J Arnold Associates. From January 2000 it has traded as Godsell Arnold Partnership Ltd, known as GAP Ltd.

The practice was further enhanced with the appointment of Simon Asquith as a Director in April 2006 and more recently, in July 2010, with Jay Rana being invited to join the Board of Directors.

The Head Office is located at Arrowsmith Court, Station Approach, Broadstone, Poole, Dorset. The Directors and Engineers are experienced in the design of Structural and Civil Engineering projects associated with the water industry, health, commercial, industrial, leisure, retail, schools, hospitals, public sector and residential  buildings, from initial feasibility study to the issue of final certificates.

GAP Ltd has recently expanded into larger modern offices at Arrowsmith Court, Station Approach, Broadstone, investing heavily in IT as part of a development programme to allow the business to undertake larger and more diverse projects through a wider geographical sphere. The company goes from strength to strength having specialist experience in all types of engineering roles, whilst still working with clients from 25 years ago.

Management procedures are constantly reviewed and where necessary, improved to ensure that the best possible service is offered at all times. The Company has an accredited Quality Management System in accordance with the most current BS EN ISO 9001 and is also accredited with Exor and Chas.

All projects are undertaken under direct supervision of one of the Directors.

Software

GAP Ltd has a full range of analysis and design software allowing us to accurately analyse forces and design structures in all materials including concrete, steel and timber to create efficient and economical structures.

As the capability of computer programs has increased, we have kept pace with the technical advances purchasing the latest software packages for 3D design of structures.

For concrete structures we have Scia Engineer which provides finite element analysis of structures allowing efficient design of concrete framed buildings, flat slab design and transfer slab design. Scia links to the powerful CADS software for fast design of all RC beams, columns, pile caps and pad foundations as well as connecting to REVIT.

For steelwork building design we have CSC Fastrak Building Designer. This program allows us to build a 3D model of the building with floors, roofs and walls applied to the steel frame. The loadings from these elements can then be applied and even the wind loadings are calculated. This can also be achieved within our MasterSeries program.

Fastrak is used by the majority of the leading steelwork fabricators to provide a fast and efficient design for steel framed buildings. GAP Ltd has been employed by various steelwork fabricators to provide a structural design service. Fabricators also use GAP Ltd to provide scheme designs to for competitive tendering, using Building Designer allows us to provide light, efficient solutions. 3D models created from this program can also be linked to Revit as well as other Steelwork detailing packages to assist them in the creation of their 3D model for fabrication use.

Recent investment into the Masterseries and Tedds suites of software has expanded our efficiency in the design of many more structural materials too.

We have recently upgraded all our CAD stations to support REVIT and so are now utilising BIM models within our design.

Meet The Team

Simon Asquith | Director

Simon joined GAP Ltd in, 1998 having gained Chartership with the Institution of Structural Engineers. Simon has been involved with a number of prestigious projects undertaken by GAP Ltd. Simon became a Director of GAP Ltd in April 2006. With twenty two years experience, Simon is knowledgeable in the design of most modern day building materials.

Jay Rana | Director

Jay graduated from Bradford University and then gained experience in the construction industry working with a number of local companies and consultants, over the following fifteen years. Jay’s initial experience was with highway maintenance before moving to structural steelwork, working for consultants and fabricators. Working with consultants, experience of designing with a wide range of building materials used in modern day engineering. Jay joined GAP Ltd in October 2009 and became a Director August 2010.
